SAKO 'SAM' NISHANIAN

(WRITER/PRODUCER/DIRECTOR)

Sako began his career in Investment Banking. After 5 years in that industry he moved into entertainment, where he has worked for the past 6 years. With almost 4 of those years at Austar the leading satellite television provider to regional Australia. Sako founded his production company ‘Original Cine Productions’ in 2002. Through this company he’s been involved in many projects ranging from Short Films, Feature Films, Documentaries, and Corporate Work.

VINCENT TAY

(CINEMATOGRAPHER/EDITOR)

Vincent Tay has been an accomplished Cinematographer and Editor since the early 1990s and a teacher of Film and Television since 1999. He currently teaches Video production at S.C.E.G.G.S. (Darlinghurst) and at the Kincoppal-Rose Bay School of the Scared Heart. He has also taught at the University of Sydney's, UBS Film School. Vincent is talented in shooting both on film and video. He has shot at numerous live events including the Delta Goodrem concert, Rogue Traders Concert, John Edwards Live in Australia to name a few and many sporting events. He has been involved with over 50 productions in the last 5 years ranging from Feature Films and Documentaries to Short Films and Television productions. He is also an accomplished editor. Vincent also worked as a barrister for 5 years.

IQBAL BARKAT

(WRITER/PRODUCER/DIRECTOR)

Iqbal Barkat is a film director born in Singapore. He holds a degree in English from the National University of Singapore and an MA in Theatre & Film Studies from UNSW. He teaches media, film & video at various institutions in Sydney including UWS & Sceggs Darlinghurst. He is currently writing a book on Media Production which will be published by OUP in 2008. Iqbal runs his own media production company, Filigree Films Pty Ltd. Iqbal has directed a feature, documentaries, many shorts, corporate videos, music videos and theatre pieces. His feature, Dusk, shot on Super-16mm has been screened at a number of festivals including MUFF in 2006. His 6 short documentary films, made as part of a permanent exhibition called Parramatta: People & Place are now on permanent exhibition at the Parramatta Heritage Centre. They depict the views of families living today in the 1st colonial settlement in Australia. Iqbal is also a sought-after visual artist. He has collaborated with many musicians and dancers providing visuals for their performances. Iqbal Barkat has collaborated with the Lingalayam Dance Company (LDC) for over three years. He contributes filmic works that provide a contemporary exegesis of the ancient Indian texts that are the basis of all of LDC's dances. Iqbal's most recent work with the LDC is a visual installation, Dancing Bells & Slingbacks which features the LDC dancers beyond dance. The work will accompany all LDC's performances.

SIMONE LAHOOD

(PRODUCTION MANAGER/1ST A.D.)

Simone Lahood has written, directed and produced several short plays. During the filming of Mission Impossible II at the Fox Studios in Sydney, her steadfast attitude towards her success as a Director/Producer so impressed Director John Woo that he invited her to participate in the day’s shooting, an experience which served to further strengthen her ambition to succeed within the film industry. Since graduation in 2004, Simone has produced several short films and was 1st Assistant Director on the 2005 independent feature film I Hate Candy, which is currently in its final stages of post-production. Simone has also worked for Presence Films located at Fox Studios as a production assistant and coordinator on several documentaries slated for broadcast on television. She’s worked in theatre where she was Associate Producer for the play The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and stage manager for both The Vagina Monologues, performed at the Sydney Theatre and Cosi. Simone currently works at Aurora Community Television, Australia’s first and only national community channel, found on Foxtel, Austar and Optus TV.
